Thanks for the insight into the new pricing structure. As a season ticket holder since the 1975/76 and having turned 65 in February I was looking forward to having a concession season ticket for 2022/23 until I saw the club have raised the age to 66. At least I knew years ago that I wouldn't get the state pension till I reached 66! But I and others only knew when the season ticket renewal info was released, NOT VERY GOOD PR! I expect better from the club for my 47 years of being a season ticket holder.
As feared I have been hit hard by the recent increases, with my tickets in the upper Holte increasing by 33%.
As a result of 2 issues:
- 14 year old son moving up a bracket to u18
- general pricing increases (more than the muted 10%) for my adult seat
Completely accept that our prices have been relatively low in comparison to other clubs, and the fact that we have also had freezes.
However I do think that the club should have increased prices in phases rather than in 1 hit.
Re zoning and addressing of concessions in one season, and an across the board increase in another would have been far more palatable in these economic times, and I really believe that the hierarchy within the commercial team at the club have shown themselves to be out of touch with their fan base.
If the off pitch matchday experience improves by 33% I will be very surprised…

I really appreciate the new astonvilla.wtf updates, great work David. On the subject of atmosphere at the revamped Villa Park, I was surprised to learn that the new North Stand would not be having any of the safe-standing areas. This seems like an odd decision to me, as over the last ten years or so, the atmosphere created by the lower North has really added to Villa Park. So why are they doing this, and instead will there be a revamped Holte End with possibly one giant single tiered bank containing safe-standing from top to bottom?
Fabulous article David, what sections of the ground are in the biggest price hike and are going to be contacted by the club. On another note are the club going to address the shocking standard of the orange jacket stewards who look like they are bought in for the game and cant be bothered and as the one who searched me last week going into upper holte said " i will just make it look like i have searched you".
